Martha’s Vineyard Trip

The Travasuns are making a weekend trip to the nude beach on Martha’s Vineyard Massachusetts  for Summer 2014. Dates will be announced when they are set.

Arrangement are being co-ordinated by Steve Giblen of Pilgrim Naturists.

He will meet you at the Ferry Dock at Vineyard Haven on Martha’s Vineyard. He will be holding a “Long Island Travasuns” sign for identification. You do not need to take your car on the ferry, you can park it for the weekend at Woods Hole on the mainland. Steve will meet you with a shuttle bus to get you to your accommodations and to the beach.

You can also use this information to plan your own trip to Martha’s Vineyard nude beach.

Or check with Steve about other dates of day trips he coordinates for Pilgrim Naturists.

Guided Day-Trip to Clothes-Optional Beach

At Aquinnah (Gayhead) Martha’s Vineyard Island, Massachusetts

Moshup Beach General Area

From: DATES FOR SUMMER 2014 TRIPS TO BE ANNOUNCED

Join us for this perennial favorite to a nude area on Martha’s Vineyard Island, Massachusetts, at Aquinnah (Gayhead) near the Gayhead lighthouse.

Travelers need to take the Saturday morning 9:30 AM ferry from Woods Hole Ferry Terminal on Cape Cod (just south of Falmouth) for the crossing to Oaks Bluff township on the island. There you meet up with Pilgrim’s Steve Giblin who will already be on the island ahead of everyone. Steve meets people with a “Long Island Travasuns” sign at the dock. From there you will share the cost of taxis or a shuttle van to get to the beach. Arrival at the beach itself is late morning.

Bring everything you need for a several hour stay as this beach is remote and there are no services.

Pack a cover up in the event of a cool sea breeze or too much sun, sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher recommended), bathing suit for off-site movements, snacks or lunch, and plenty of liquid refreshments. We also recommend some good sandals or sneakers for a short crossing over a rocky area of the beach to the traditional nude area.

Late afternoon the taxis return to pick the group up for the return trip back to town. Travelers can then elect to return to the mainland or remain on the island for some touristing, dinner, and a later ferry. Some people return to the mainland and take in Woods Hole or other Cape Cod offerings.

Overall estimated cost for the trip including parking, round trip ferry, and the cost of taxi share runs about $45 per person on the average. Those car-pooling and sharing parking will have a lesser cost of course.

Steve has a plan for public transit travelers from the Boston area. Ask for details and we will have Steve contact you. It is possible!

Alternate Ferry service is available from Quonsett Point in Narragansett, RI but the RI ferry arrives at a different time. Anyone using this ferry needs to let Steve know so he can meet that boat and hold the group till everyone is there from both crossings.

Get a ferry schedule! Don’t get stuck on the island! Last ferry returns to the mainland around 9:00 PM.

You must register with us at the following e-mail address with name, reply e-mail address, number in your party, and contact phone. Steve will need your phone number in the event of last minute changes, bad weather, etc. We will give you Steve’s number in return if you have any questions.

Any inclement weather announcements or changes will be posted to our announcement line at 617-942-1150. Rain date is usually the following Sunday.

Post Script - In 2006 the town announced a plan for enforcing its standing anti-nudity ordinance ($50 fine - non-criminal offense). Numerous reports received state that the anti-nudity signs are down and there has been no evidence of enforcement since then. The location appears to be status quo as far as nudity is concerned.

Storm Info - We have received many questions regarding storm damage or erosion from winter storms and Hurricane Sandy. As of this writing (May 2013) we have not received any reliable information on the condition of the beach, however the prevailing wisdom is that the beach is on a westerly exposure which would have seen less impact from these storms.
